Job Was A Great Man Because Of pt.1
We hear alot about Job and his trials and troubles and how he stood firm in his faith. Job is a great example of who we need to be. I understand we need to be more like Christ but we can learn from examples such as Job, Paul, David and others on how to be more like Christ. We will look at several things that will help us over the next few days.
Our Fire-starter comes from Job 1. Our Fire-starter thought is Job was a great man because of
We learn about great men of the Bible. What made them so great? Things that they did and what they stood for and how they did things. Please note several things over these next few days that will help us become great people for the Lord.
Our theme verse for the next couple of days will be Job 1:3 let's read it.
Job 1:3 KJV
His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
Now I understand this is talking about his substance and everything he had but I believe he was a great man in the spiritual realm as well. By the way, probably greater spiritually than most people will ever get in this day and age. Why was Job so great? What made him different from everyone else? The next few days we will look at the answer to these questions.
Please remember this verse as we look at our first point. Psalm 119:165 KJV
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
By the way, if you are offended, it's probably you are not like this.
Notice with me Job 1:1, 8; 2:3
Job 1:1 KJV
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Job 1:8 KJV
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job 2:3 KJV
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
The first thing I will say is Job was a great man because of his stand.
Job had standards about him. Please do not get this confused with legalism because there is a difference.
Just because you have standards doesn't mean you are legalistic.
Legalism is adding works to salvation Standards are what you have because you are saved. If you are saved you ought to have standards and if you don't you better get some. You mark it down if you will not stand for something you will fall for everything.
Job had standards according to verse 1 did you notice it?
1.He Feared God 2. He eschewed evil
How does this apply to standards? He feared God; this was not a scared fear, this was a reverent fear. He didn't want to hurt the God of Heaven.
So many do not have the fear of God that's why the second part is not a part of their vocabulary and that is he eschewed evil. What does eschewed mean?
According to Webster's 1828 dictionary eschewed means Shunned; avoided.
When you have the fear of God you will get standards to stay away from things that hurt the God that you have fear for
Some things that we do can be avoided, we just do not like to avoid them. That's why we will never be great.
A great man or woman will set standards in their life to avoid harm from the sins that take place with no standards.
The reason I do not go to the movie theater is because I have a personal standard against going. You may have a different stand on it, and if you feel that's right for you then you can feel that way. I take my stand from 1 Thessalonians 5:22 notice what it states.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
I do not go to the movie theater simply because of what they play at the movie theater. You say brother Justin, they play other things than worldly stuff sure they probably do but I am not going to go to a movie theater simply because I do not want to even make it look like I am going to watch a certain movie.
How about this one I stand for the King James Bible!!!!
I like what Jack Hyles stated. This is what he said, the king James Bible is not the best Bible, it's the only Bible.
The reason the King James Bible is all I use can be simply put this way. When there are words being taken out of other perversions of the Word of God I will not use it. Secondly, it would be a contradiction to use the other perversions for the very fact that scripture would not line up. For example in Acts 8:36-38, in other versions, verse 37 has been taken out which is the very center of Salvation.
On top of that look at the people that have come out with these other perversions of the Bible. Some are Homosexuals, Some are pastors with no stand , some were brought with no certification of even being able to translate word for word the Bible by the way, they had to testify of that in court.
On top of that in order for them to copyright or change someone else's work and make it their own they would need to change it by fifteen percent. Now the question for you, do you want the pure Word of God or something that is fifteen percent off or even more?
Every time they come out with a new so-called "Bible" they have to change it by fifteen percent so you could have a version that has been changed by 60 or 70 or 90 percent you do not know.
Why do I stand against the ungodly worldly sounding music? Simply for the fact that the people who write these songs live worldly lives. It's a shame that even some so-called churches are singing songs that have been written by people that write songs that sound good to people that sing them but they need to read up on who has written these songs.
If Job was living in this day in time he probably wouldn't let his children go to the movie theater, read out of a perversion of the Bible, listen to music that is no different than the world, dress like the World and even act like the world. Job would be the example of how a modern day Christian that has some values ought to be.
May we live with standards!!!!
